When you take a test, do you keep a lucky quarter in your pocket?
Do you avoid stepping on cracks in the sidewalk?
Back luck happens in threes right?
Wikipedia defines superstition as any belief or practice that is considered irrational or supernatural: for example, if it arises from ignorance, a misunderstanding of science or causality, a positive belief in fate or magic, or fear of that which is unknown.
Do I have any? If I see a coin on the ground, regardless if it’s side up or down, I’ll pick it up. That’s free money!
When it comes to ladders, I’m more concerned about whether they are stable and safe to climb.
If I’m running, avoiding cracks is the last thing I need to worry about. But I do try to keep an eye on the ground so that I don’t step in a hole or fall over other obstacles.
Ultimately, we have the power to determine whether something is lucky or unlucky.
Superstitions are fun, as long as you realize they are just that – for fun.
