School is almost over for the year, and in a public librarian’s world, that can only mean one thing: Summer Reading Challenge time! Paint Your Story: Summer Reading Challenge kicks off on Monday, June 1.
In addition to reading, this summer we have added optional, Weekly Art Challenges. Weekly Art Challenges use supplies you may have at home and include DIY instructions. Participants can complete the challenge and log the Activity in the Beanstack Tracker app or on gepl.beanstack.org . There will be drawings for prizes on the following Mondays: June 22, July 13, and August 10. We would love to see your creations, so if you make something, be sure to tag us on social media or email us at summer_reading followed by @gepl.org. Themes will be things like recreating a famous piece of art or book cover, folding and flying a paper airplane, or painting a rock.
The Glen Ellyn Public Library is challenging our community to help us reach a goal of 25,000 points. If we do reach 25,000 points, our Friends of the Library and the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation will each donate $1,000 (for a combined $2,000) to this year’s community partner, The Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center.
