Star Wars Reviews Series (4 of 4)

Hundreds of years before the galaxy was scarred from the events of the Separatist attempt to wipe out the Republic’s Clone Army or Darth Vader’s rise to power, the Jedi Knights were the protectors of the galaxy. In the age of the High Republic, the Jedi are getting ready to unveil a brand-new outpost, when something terrible happens. A large portion of what appears to be a civilian transport ship falls out hyperspace, causing the Jedi to run to the rescue. After saving the nearby planet from impact, the Jedi discover that this unfortunate event was caused by somebody, not a defect in the newly invented hyperspace. As the Jedi scour the galaxy for the cause of this event, the information ends up coming to them. A small ship claimed to have knowledge of another piece of the transport coming out of hyperspace soon appears and accidentally leaks their ship’s owner and gang, the Nihil. As the Republic begins to deal with this crisis, all around the Outer Rim many more deadly crimes are being reported. Soon the Jedi find the reason for these crimes and they must decide if they are willing to put aside their Jedi way to save the galaxy.

This was the first book I read in the new Star Wars: The High Republic series, and it was so unique! I loved how this new era is setting up the story of how the galaxy had such incredible technological advancements and the introduction of the Jedi Order, seen later on in movies which take place hundreds of years later, such as Revenge of the Sith. I would definitely recommend this book to those who want to start reading The High Republic books and those interested in how the Jedi Order came into existence.
